FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
-
MooreGood.org is simply the name of our website for our family foundation, “The Moore Family Charitable Foundation, Inc.” — a philanthropic home for projects that strengthen communities and ecosystems from the ground up. We’ve supported efforts like the Brooklyn Diaper Project, Lazy Point Farms, and emerging Austin-based initiatives for environment and equity.

Our core funding comes from our family’s own philanthropy, with additional support from donors who share our vision and values. We are a registered 501(c)(3) and accept tax-deductible donations. We see every gift as a vote of confidence that this work — small, direct, and human-scaled — deserves to continue.

Unlike most nonprofits, we’re not here to pad a budget or chase clout; we’re here to make things happen. We believe in partnering with other nonprofits as a genuine opportunity —not a competitive dance for fundraising dollars or grants. We believe the healthiest nonprofits eventually work themselves out of a job. Our goal is to close the loop — to seed projects that can stand on their own and then move on to the next project.

No. Given our background in academia, we know firsthand that the grant world often runs backward — rewarding those who are best at paperwork rather than those doing the work itself. We prefer to stay focused on getting things done, not chasing applications or trend-based funding. As a result, our big questions for how to spark change arise wholly from the need we see around us- not the parameters specified by grant applications for how to secure funding.
When we do receive grants, like our support from the Long Island Sierra Club, we see it as a deep testament of trust and take it extremely seriously. Every dollar goes straight to impact — not overhead, not admin — just real work on the ground.
-
We support projects that combine practicality and compassion — from seaweed restoration to family well-being — where small, timely support can spark lasting change. We don’t accept unsolicited proposals; our giving begins with relationships and shared values.
-
We look at both stories and results. Our annual reports highlight measurable improvements — cleaner water, stronger families, empowered growers — alongside the narratives that bring those numbers to life.
-
Lazy Point Farms is one of our anchor projects — a living example of how focused, family-backed philanthropy can seed systems that outlast us.

Yes. Our organization is a 501(c)(3), and all donations are tax-deductible. Your support helps us keep doing work that resists bloat, bureaucracy, and self-importance — choosing instead to stay lean, local, and deeply effective.
